The area is full of state parks. The most famous is the Everglades. It’s one of the most biodiverse places on Earth with its multiple biomes. You can also see the coral reefs at John Pennekamp State Park or feel like a geologist at Windley Key.

Key Largo has also found other ways to protect its biodiversity. The National Marine Sanctuary holds its reefs and the animals within. The Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center protects birds that can’t fly away back into the wild.

Key Largo has all the gorgeous beaches you can dream of. Harry Harris is great for small groups of family or friends. Annie’s Beach is small but relaxing. You can also travel to the nearby island of Islamadora if you need even more time in the sun and sand.

If you get hungry in Key Largo, get a conch at The Pilot House or party at the famous Mile Marker 88. You can even give some of it back to the fish if you eat at Robbie’s and feed the tarpons there.

A ride on the African Queen is a great way to see the area, especially if you’ve seen the movie it was featured in. You can also travel the Overseas Heritage Trail to see everything from above.
