  29. If you travel either North or South from Chennai there is plenty of interesting things to see and experience. On my most recent trip to India in 2020, right before Covid I travelled South from Chennai to the Southern tip of India then North through Kerala State and onwards to Mumbai. If the high temperatures get to you head up to some of the hill stations in the mountains to the South and West. Given you are in Chennai just South( about and hour by bus) are the spectacular World Heritage rock cut walls and temples In Mamallapuram. Some highlights include the Shore Temple, The Five Rathaus. Near the bus stop in town is the incredibly impressive carved rock wall, Aruba’s Penance. Highly recommend a stop here if you are headed South through Tamil Nadu State, also easy to day trip from Chennai. The state also has many really beautiful Hindu temples, if you are interested you should try to visit some of them
