RETURN OR ONWARD TICKET REQUIREMENT FOR THAI VISA EXEMPTION

CAUTION! CAUTION! CAUTION! READ THIS EMAIL BEFORE ENTERING ON A VISA EXEMPTION:

THIS IS A COMMENT I GOT FROM A SUBSCRIBER: visa exemption is not without it’s problems.. JAL would not allow me to check in / board because my onward outbound flight was in excess of the 45 days allowed for Visa exemption. Fortunately I had enough time to go to Travelocity and buy a round trip to Cambodia @ a cost of $50 cancellation fee. The first 10 hits were non refundable
So beware of , at least of JAL’s policy, for 45 day travel. Your airline may vary.
I am in Seattle BA lounge, next is Immigration at Bangkok 🛃

SO, WHILE THAI IMMIGRATION MAY ACCEPT RETURN/ONWARD TICKETS LATER THAN 45 DAYS, YOUR AIRLINE MAY NOT! SO, CHECK WITH YOUR AIRLINE, AND MAYBE PLAY IT SAFE BY BUYING A CHEAP ONWARD TICKET FOR WITHIN 45 DAYS AS SHASTADAD DID AT THE AIRPORT.

Now that the visa exemption is available again, and has been expanded from 30 to 45 days, it’s a very attractive alternative for entering Thailand. The exemption requires having a return or onward ticket (although some officials don’t ask for this ticket). This video discusses options for this onward/return ticket.

  3. Hi Robert, my mother-in-law is leaving Thailand next week Friday. She has round-trip tickets that are 80 days but got approved for a Thai visa for a 60-day stay. Will that be an issue for her to enter Thailand as her outward ticket is 20 days later? She will be entering Thailand on January 1st and her outbound plane ticket is on March 19. I am unsure if I should get her a one-way ticket for outward just in case. She's planning to extend her visa stay before her 60 days visa expired. Please help me. Thank you.

  4. Hey, thank you so much for your help! We have a one way ticket booked to Thailand as we plan to be in south east Asia for around 6months. we plan on taking the slow boat to Laos after 45 days, do you think we would need need to show an outboard ticket for Thailand? Thank you again

  5. Great videos and help – thank you. My return flight is 90 days – will i have trouble getting visa exemption? I plan to leave Thailand after a couple of weeks, travel around Asia then fly back out from Bangkok. Thanks in advance!

  6. Hi – just came across your channel which is very helpful! Also was confused on this return ticket so please clarify if this correct? If I am staying 45 days then additional 30 then can use my return ticket showing 75 days as proof of return in timeframe? It does not have to show 45 days and will be acceptable? Also does day of arrival and day of departure count towards the 75 days even if time zone different? Want to make sure return ticket has correct date. Sorry so many questions but first time going to Thailand and want to do it right. Thanks for advice as much appreciated!

  7. Flying out this morning and freaking out because my round-trip flight had me in Thailand for 48 days, and my E-Visa still hasn't been approved. You just saved me from panic purchasing a one way ticket from Bangkok back to the states just to have an earlier return date. Thank you so much for this information!

  8. Excellent information. My name is Tathagat and I am from India. My regards to you.🙏
Can you please suggest me some route maps for traveling across the South East Asia. I can exempt Malaysia, Indonesia etc. But I am looking to travel across Thailand, Combodia, Vietnam and maybe Laos. Please suggest me the most viable ways to do this.
