  1. Used to be you get a nice place in Maui for under $200 a night on the beach.
No more. Prices have doubled and even tripled in 3 years
Big resorts are insane, the charge the BS "resort fee" and parking fee.
Condos? good luck booking with VRBO and Air BNB.
They used to charge tax and a reasonable cleaning fee.
Now its almost 18% tax, ridiculous cleaning fees, and lo and behold, " manager fees", "host fees" and assorted other BS fees for doing nothing. Adds over 50% to the tab.
And eating out/ Insane high prices.
Much better deals in the Caribbean and Mexico and even the Big Island
Mauji is now for the rich

  2. We just got back from our cheap Maui trip. Best decision we ever did was to go as cheap as possible. Found great deal on Southwest for flights for $350-$500 RT during their $59 sale. Rented vintage camper van for my family for 5 nights for $1100 total after taxes. That meant for airfare, lodging, and transportation it was around $2300 total for our family of 3. Not counting the food and souvenirs. We camped at Olowalu, Kฤซpahulu, and Waiโ€™anapanapa. We ate primarily only at food trucks and it was amazing! I used to never think Iโ€™d be able to visit Maui. Now planning for another trip next year, because we can do that for that budget!!!

  3. Hi guys. Any suggestion foe the Luau experience for my wife? Her first time to Maui but when I scheduled an "experience" online it said $400 but when I got notified by them they messaged me stating it was going to be $800.00. Any affordable Luau experiences? Thank you

  4. Rather than using sun block. a full body rash guard is much better for both you and the marine life. Additionally, on a hot day, by keeping it wet is like having your personal air conditioner. On Maui, I highly recommend driving to the town of Hanna on east end of the Isl. There you will find beautiful mountains, waterfalls and hidden ocean coves. And, the lava fields on the southeast of Maui are also worth a visit.

  5. I stayed there once. It says on the room wall 800 is the cheapest a night. I'm no tourist.i moved her ass end of 2016 because of a woman. You don't gotta be rich to be here. But you gotta be rich if you don't wanna leave the resort and fear the locals.. as you should. People that just stay in the resort don't know jack bout the island or people.

  6. Nice video. I've been to Maui many tomes since 1980s. Definitely saw the resorts proliferate on Kaanapali and Wailea. You were on Oluwalu camp grounds. Leoda's Kitchen and Pie shoo, so famous woth lines out the door and you missed it. That resort you stayed at used to be about $300-450 pre-pandemic. Since then prices had doubled and tripled. Pretty sure that $150 airB&B is now at least $250 + admin, cleaning, and tax would out it more in the range of $325/night. Seriously, check it out. Even the hostels are at least $75/night in an 8 person dorm but one particular hostel has free tours to different parts of the island daily. Just generously tip your driver/guide. Also, one of the least expensive ways to stay in Maui is by renting from a timeshare owner who cannot use their week. I just booked a 1 bedroom 820 sq ft ocean view with kitchenette for 1200/week. That's $172/night and no extra resort or parking fee. On the beach and huge 2 acre pool. It is very family oriented, and is one of the original resorts on the northern end of Kaanapali. I stayed there last year, too and it's clean, great friendly staff, massage in a cabana on premises. Walking to Duke's Beach Club, large food truck park, and a Times Market in a strip mall across the street from resort. As far as the tent above the vans or vans to stay in and camp, it's illegal to camp on any beach in Maui. Camping okay in Oluwalu. Many car insurance companies will not cover TURO. So advisable to check with your car insurance Co. I suggest supporting local family owned business like Kihei Car Rental.

  7. I so lost interest in Hawaii several years ago.
$1000 a night for a very ordinary hotel room PLUS they charge for parking PLUS $350 per couple for a touristy luau. Oh, and the ripoff "resort fee."
The true meaning of Aloha is 'give me mo money suckah!'
PLUS, Hawaiians don't even like haoles (mainlanders).
    Go to Puerto Vallarta.

  8. Just my thoughts….I got 10 minutes into the video and had to stop watching. You guys make it seem like you've watched other people's videos who've stayed at the resort before and had the best time ever. And then when you get there it's not picture perfect like you've seen, like you're expecting literal heaven, instead of going in with an open mind and take it as it is. Man, I'd be so happy with a parking lot view instead of ocean view mostly because….I'M IN HAWAII? You're not spending all day in your room, you're probably out exploring! Seems like you guys should have taken the trip to Europe and used your points that way instead of going to boring ol', crusty, over priced hAwAii. Literally a dream place for people to visit, myself included. Don't take your travels so for granted. You're so unbelievably fortunate to get to travel.

  10. I went to Hawaii when I served aboard a Coast Guard ship in the 90s. I got to attend a fia fia in Western Samoa. Thatโ€™s a Samoan luau. I donโ€™t feel the need to go to a luau. Iโ€™m heading back to Honolulu for a week at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Then a week at a cabin for $40 a night on the Big Island. Iโ€™m certain I will love both places.

  11. Wow, you two sure know how to waste a fuck ton of money on vacation!
I go to Maui, HI every year and never spend anywhere close to even $500 a night in any hotel or resort. Ha ha ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘Ž

  12. Hey guys!!!! So! Small background, my hubs got a KILLER job offer in Maui, starting January 9th. We are pretty tight on cash, not broke as hell but tight, and we need some cheap options for the first couple weeks, till we can go look at a few places and get permanent housing. Our only hesitation is we have an almost 5yr old (5 on Jan 18th), so I want to make sure where we stay is safe and all that. We are super outdoorsy people and don't mind camping at all. We are literally watching one of your YouTube videos and we saw a Tentalows (?so) and thought those look like a SUPER great option for us and wanted to chat with y'all a bit about the different options and cost effective ways for us to get through the first 3ish weeks there. Any advice or input you have would be GREAT! Hope to hear back soon, thanks in advance! Mahalo! ๐Ÿ˜
