This is a BRAND NEW Citroen 2CV Electric Delivery van. Baristas, city boutiques, artisanal bread companies PAY ATTENTION! This new EV 2CV van could be the perfect urban delivery and rolling billboard branding for you.

Jonny Smith heads to the 2CV Shop https://the2cvshop.co.uk/ to drive an all-new van version of the classic French people’s car. With kerb weight less than 675kg and a 10kWh or 20kWh batt to choose from, the ‘Evie’ ( https://eive.co.uk/ ) has a range of up to 75 miles.

Thanks for stopping by The Late Brake Show.

The charm of the 2CV commercial vehicle is that its classic looks can be tailored to your requirement, it avoids urbn emissions laws and still drives with that signature biblical bodyroll. Hell, you don’t even have to order it as an EV if you preferred the original spec 602cc twin.

  1. A 380kg payload is excellent! The famous, or infamous depending on your perception, Japanese 'kei-tora' (Kei or mini truck) have a payload of 350kg and a Hilux pickup has a payload of 500kg, which is only 120kg more than the EV 2CV. The rear space is also very, very practical.

  2. What a brilliant idea!! A 2CV van with an electric motor rather than a petrol engine with two cylinders!! But it sounds like a good vehicle if you’re a London based driver using it for carrying light loads!!

  3. At 6:34-ish Johnny says "city range in EVs is often way way higher". In my years with my Nissan Leaf I've found that I get 15% more range when I'm driving outside of the city especially if there's a significant amount of road that allows speeds in excess of 50mph. It's taken for granted that an EV will have worse economy on motorways over long distances. My eight year-old Nissan Leaf does 3.8-4.1 miles per kwh in the city and 4.5-4.8 miles per kwh on motorways and dual carriageways. Those efficiency levels are the same now as when it was new.

  4. I'd rather have this one instead of all the new EV sportscar or SUV. This is what electric should be light and practical. Like the new concept Citroen Oli.

  5. It’s a shame these vehicles are always made for such niche target audience and are so extremely expensive… which is extra weird as these original cars were ment for the everyday person, not the wealthiest 1%…

  6. They'd sell like fekk over here, chaps.
Get your self a distributor/agent in Japan, especially in the Tokyo or Aichi area.
In this area, there are a more and more French and German cars on the road by the year, and cute, novel things like this would be snapped up by young, trendy business owners or regular folks.
    EDIT…
Though I wrote the above before hearing "40 grand" and "can't be rapid charged."

  7. In My City they got a sickness of pure stupidity they have put speed bump almost everywhere. Instead of putting the smart way i.e. putting it at the intersection so people in wheelchair don't need to go up and down to cross the street. Instead they put in one or two in the middle of road to force you to stop and go.

A 2CV electric is perfect car to ignore the speed bump and continue to drive like normal intelligent people.

  8. How do modern designn rules affect these? Crash testing etc. Vehicles like this should be the future. Modern cars are too large, too heavy, and too fast for urban and short range use.

  9. I wouldn't mind having one for short trips back and forth to town, but not for $50,000 USD!!!! Maybe 15-20,000 at most, and then you'd have to figure out how to get it licensed. Seeing that it's a NEW vehicle, it would almost have to be licensed as an ATV to get around the US vehicle safety standards for airbags, crash test, etc., plus the fact that it wouldn't be able to maintain normal highway speeds. For inner city travel, and rural use, it could be comparable to a mid-range electrified Polaris ATV, but with more carrying capacity. A short bed Polaris Sportsman 6×6 is around $15,000 after taxes.😉
